Whether this is your first time to visit our site, or if you were redirected here by another blog, I would like to welcome you to Adoption 3:16. My husband and I will be joined by other Christian adoptive families in this endeavor, as we seek to answer questions in regards to adopting older children. Since the experience of all our authors lies in the area of international adoption, we will concentrate on that area, although much of our advice will indeed cross over into domestic adoption of older children, also.
We will introduce ourselves and then begin to answer some very general questions. From there, we will proceed to more specific questions, using the Word of God as our guide when we address each issue. Although God’s Word is Truth, we are not infallible. I promise that we will make mistakes along the way. Many will disagree with our advice, our theology, our basic beliefs. It is our prayer that, through this blog, some parents may become better equipped with biblical principles as they seek to adopt older children and those struggling with adopted children already at home may find biblically sound answers to the daily challenges they face.
We have included the archives from an old blog (Nihilo) which served a similar purpose. The posts are mostly on issues related to adoption and some are family related posts, which will hopefuly give you a bit of a glimpse into our family life.
May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing to God, our Rock and our Salvation.
Bless you all! The biblical approach to discipling (rather than simply disciplining) children is very time consuming. And requires much perseverence! Consistency. Love. Compassion. May God continue to give you wisdom and energy to raise all your children in this God-honoring way.
Thanks for visiting my blog…whatever little piece of God’s puzzle we can help with is our delight! To HIM be the glory!
(We hope to be in Huntsville next spring for a missions conference. Maybe we can even get a chance to meet in person!!)

Hey, This is Olivia. (I am a friend of Trey’s and I have the blog nobody416.) I am going to recommend this to my parents. We have adopted my little sister from Romania when she was 4 (she is now 11) and we are looking to adopt again, (but we don’t have the money to do it out of states). Right now God hasn’t opened the right doors yet. (We have had tons of possibilities, but nothing that worked out.)I thought it was so cool when Trey said that you guys had adopted 8 kids, my parents would have loved to adopt that many if it wasn’t for finances. We have some friends that adopted 13 kids! And 10 of them have fetal alcohol syndrome. They are really amazing people.
In Christ,
Olivia

Just wanted to let you know that Berean Wife gave me a “Colour My Life Beautiful Award” and I have passed it on to the three of you as a whole! Thanks so much for continuing to share and help our understanding with adoption issues. This has been a huge help in our lives, I know!

I have enjoyed the resources. We just adopted 3 — 10, 9, and just turned 8. I bought Heart of Anger based on the recommendation here. It has been a great help. Thanks.

To the 3 authors,
I came to this site through Connie’s site. But here is the question. My wife and I are interested in adopting an older child, preferably from Russia, but as the Lord provides we only desire to please Him. We just don’t know where to start. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much,
Jeff

I am so grateful to find your site. We adopted a bi-racial boy when he was 2. He is now 8. I can’t image our lives without him. I will visit your site again! thanks for being there:)
